Closet Organization 101

Image
Maybe it's because I'm a Science teacher, or maybe that I'm a visual person, but mapping out my closets has been the BEST way to keep organized as I revamp ALL of our downstairs storage. 1) Start with an image of the empty storage. In this case, I had shelves, so I just drew blank lines indicating shelves. 2) Survey what you need to put in the closet. I switched these from a linen and coat closet to a pantry and cleaning and home supplies closet. 3) Acquire whatever shelving and organization tools you need. In my case, I'm using a shelf from Amazon and pantry risers for the cans on the left. These are affiliate links and I earn a small commission if you purchase through my links.  4) LIGHTING is so important in closets! I added these peel and stick installed lights  to brighten up the space. They come on automatically when I open the closets! I got 2 packs of 2, because I have 3 other closet spaces I'm working on this week! Check out my video here to see how I ins...

Weight Watchers for a Healthy Start

Image
Check out the current membership deals for Weight Watchers here: WW✨Ad: https://brandcycle.shop/rycii Why I do Weight Watchers: I LOVE the flexibility of the program. If there's a charcuterie platter, I'm going to try some cheeses, and if it’s my kids birthday and I have a slice of 🍕 and a cupcake - best part is that it's NOT a cheat day - I just work it into my weekly points.  Just to give you an idea of how a day on WW looks for me with 21 daily points. The program will adjust your points based on your weight and goals, mine is a pretty low value compared to others I've seen. Breakfast (4pts): coffee, sugar free creamer, egg omelette with 1.5 slices of low fat cheddar Lunch (4pts): broccoli sauteed in garlic and sesame oil, shrimp, 2 fried gyoza dumplings Snack (0pts): hard boiled egg, banana (any fruit!)   Dinner (10pts): basil pesto, rotini pasta, one pan baked salmon and zucchini  Snack (3pts): cherries, cheddar rice cakes or sugar free pudding cup  My fav...

Keep It Simple - Toy Rotation & Organization

Image
The holidays have brought a LOT of extra toys, and with the Christmas tree on it's way out, we have started to think about how we'll organize these toys!  Our current set up is from Target and IKEA. I love the Target Wave Storage Bins* and these storage cubes * are amazing! These cubes are LARGE so they fit a TON of toys. Right now these are our main type of storage with the bins, and they fit a ton of toys. I'm looking more to add rotation toy storage, so that's what I'll be updating with! If you want to see more storage solutions from Target, check them out here . * If you use my links, I'll earn a small commission from your purchase. If you're looking for the bin labels, they work on the fabric bins and plastic bins, and you can find them here on amazon (Affiliate Link). Click here for the template I made for the labels, of course I don't own the rights to any of these images, and I used Google to find them! I have always wanted to rotate toys, bu...

Planning the Big Boy Room Upgrade

Image
I need to blog about this because I'm OBSESSING over this big boy room revamp that we'll be doing! The boys have a REALLY small room and currently not much in the way of bedroom furniture and that is about to change! I have so much inspiration from Pinterest and Google but I haven't seen anything like what we're about to do in our very small space. Their room is L shaped AND has a low ceiling due to our small cape home.  My inspiration board is made with images from all over the internet and items that I *think* we want to add!  The Little Stuff:  Mini bed-side garbage can Photo String Lights Bed Side Shelf Color Changing Strip Lights Basketball Hoop The BIG Stuff: Kura Bed Mattress (affiliate link: https://amzn.to/3H4jbE1)  Swedish Ladder Climber (converting our pikler) Desks
