Closet Organization 101






Maybe it's because I'm a Science teacher, or maybe that I'm a visual person, but mapping out my closets has been the BEST way to keep organized as I revamp ALL of our downstairs storage.

1) Start with an image of the empty storage. In this case, I had shelves, so I just drew blank lines indicating shelves.



2) Survey what you need to put in the closet. I switched these from a linen and coat closet to a pantry and cleaning and home supplies closet.

3) Acquire whatever shelving and organization tools you need. In my case, I'm using a shelf from Amazon and pantry risers for the cans on the left. These are affiliate links and I earn a small commission if you purchase through my links. 



4) LIGHTING is so important in closets! I added these peel and stick installed lights to brighten up the space. They come on automatically when I open the closets! I got 2 packs of 2, because I have 3 other closet spaces I'm working on this week! Check out my video here to see how I installed them:
